My background, supportive family and schooling have been instrumental in shaping the person I am today. I was encouraged to embrace experiential learning from an early age and was fortunate to have access to computers from the age of 4 and technology advances and updates soon after they were developed.
Whilst at school, my sporting achievements proved extremely character forming. I trained hard with dedication to become the Berkshire County Schools Junior Badminton champion in every year from the age of 10 to 16. I learnt that it took hard work and commitment to succeed. It was in these years I experienced being a ‘team player’ and learnt from my coaches and older colleagues. As I got older, my position progressed to ‘team leader’ and I took some responsibility for coaching and mentoring my younger colleagues.
My academic determination gained me a place at Loughborough University in 2001, one of the top-ten universities in the country. Whilst there I gained a BSc (Hons) in Geography and ‘naturally’ obtained an IT position in my first graduate job. While studying for my degree it was the IT related modules that I enjoyed the most and I found myself returning to a passion that had developed long ago.
