Corporate Infrastructure Support
As in most companies, the primary role of the ICT department is to provide computer, communication and systems reliability through seamless support to all company functions. In my current role, I have become proficient in supporting all aspects of the corporate infrastructure, including server hardware, networking equipment and operating systems.
Virtualisation Technologies
Safeguarding the future environment has become a vital global issue and, as a consequence, virtualisation technologies are taking on more importance to businesses and their corporate images. Keen to understand the advantages of virtualisation options in the workplace, I have experienced a number of solutions including VirtualBox for Windows, Microsoft Virtual Server, VMware Workstation and VMware ESXi.
Automated Deployment Solutions
Throughout the course of 2009 I was working on a project to introduce an automated hardware independent operating system aimed at streamlining and simplifying the building of client laptop and desktop computers. This project has exposed to me to systems such as Altiris Deployment Solution and Notification Server and all the features they contain, as well as writing scripts.
Projects
To date I have been involved in a number of projects aimed at improving the efficiency of a corporate network and disaster recovery plan, including the installation of Direct Attached Storage solutions and backup systems. However, a notable achievement was as a member of a team who completed a complex office move, successfully transferring the infrastrctures of two offices into a brand new office over the course of a weekend.
