If ambitious people seek to be the best at what they choose to do, then I am ambitious. Whatever I attempt, I try to do it to the best of my ability.
A Step Up, Not Sideways
I started my career in a desktop support position and ‘mastered’ that role relatively quickly. This grounding and my performance in the role enabled me to move into higher-level infrastructure support. For my next position I am seeking to expand on this, allowing me to experience new technologies and assist with their implementation and maintenance.
Projects
I have been fortunate to be chosen to work on a number of projects, additional to my ‘day job’. These have included automated operating system deployments (see my ICT Experience page), a benefit analysis of implementing a Windows Phone solution and it’s integration with the existing and future infrastructure, and projects to improve operational efficiency such as new backup systems and virtualisation technologies. For me, projects are a way of keeping in touch with the latest technologies, and are a very attractive quality in a job.
Managing and Mentoring
Currently, I am required to train and mentor junior members of our team. Although this can be a challenging task, I find the responsibility rewarding, as the way these team members perform reflects on my ability to pass on knowledge and skills. I would like the opportunity to expand on this and feel that I have the motivational competence to move into a man-management role.
